Preparing iPad for Check-In
Please complete the following steps PRIOR to returning your iPad and accessories
1. Part 1: Turn off Find My iPad
It's extremely important that you turn off Find My iPad before returning the iPad to the Technology department. Failure to complete this step may hold your account liable for the full cost of the iPad.
1.1. On your iPad, open the Settings App
1.2. Tap your name, then Find My
- Tap your name at the top in the left side bar
- Tap Find My
1.3. Tap Find My iPad
1.4. Go to the Find my iPad button
1.5. Slide the Find My iPad Button to the Left
1.6. Password Required
- Enter your Apple ID Password
- Tap Turn Off.
Find My iPad is now disabled
1.7. Find My iPad is turned off
The switch icon will look like this when it's turned off.
2. Part 2: Erase the iPad
Next, you need to erase the data on the iPad. Follow the steps below.
2.1. On your iPad, open the Settings App
2.2. Tap General on the Left Sidebar
On the right side of the screen, scroll to the bottom, then tap Reset.
2.3. Tap Erase All Content and Settings
2.4. Enter Your PIN
In order to proceed to the next step, you must enter the PIN code for your iPad. This is the code you use to unlock your iPad. If your PIN contains alpha-numeric characters, you will be presented with a keyboard instead.
Enter your PIN to proceed.
2.5. Tap Erase
A window will appear asking you to Erase the iPad.
Did you backup your data???
Tap Erase.
2.6. Last Chance
Another window will appear letting you know that this is your last chance to cancel erasing your iPad.
This is your LAST CHANCE! If you haven't backed up your iPad, click Cancel now and do so. If you are absolutely sure you want to erase your iPad, proceed.
Tap Erase.
2.7. Type your Apple ID Password
If you DIDN'T turn off Find My iPad in Part 1, you will be presented with this window.
Enter your Apple ID password.
Tap Erase.
2.8. The iPad is Now Erased
The iPad will now erase ALL contents and settings. When it's complete, you will see the welcome screen. I
2.9. Charge iPad but DO NOT SHUT DOWN
Finally, Please charge your iPad prior to returning
DO NOT shut down the iPad. Just power it off by tapping the power button at the top.
